Yvr Musqueam Friendship Agreement

On June 21, 2017, we co-signed the Musqueam Indian Band – YVR Airport Sustainability – Friendship Agreement. It is a 30-year agreement based on friendship and respect, in order to achieve a sustainable and mutually beneficial future for our community. Over time, with predictable revenue, the total financial gain for Musqueam could reach $300 million, according to Musqueam City Councillor Wendy Grant-John, who was among the group`s negotiators to reach an agreement with the airport authority. It justified this decision by an expected increase in turnover of 5% per year at the airport. “I am committed to ensuring that this agreement meets the expectations of both groups and leads to the continued building of a positive and mutually beneficial friendship,” Point said in a press release. “The Musqueam Indian Band – YVR Airport Sustainability and Friendship Agreement is an important step in ensuring that we manage the airport for the good of all.” The agreement includes a series of scholarships and new jobs, one percent of YVR`s annual revenue, the identification and protection of archaeological resources, as well as support for the day-to-day operation and long-term development of the airport. This important agreement sets a solid precedent for how YVR recognizes its relationship with indigenous peoples and how we will work together to manage the airport for the benefit of all. The Musqueam Indian Band and the Vancouver Aviation Authority on Wednesday signed a 30-year agreement on sustainability and friendship that could lead the group to raise up to $300 million over the life of the agreement. Grant-John, a former boss of the group, said the new deal brought Johnny to life. Their speech moved Craig Richmond, president and CEO of the airport authority, who later said the agreement “will change their lives in terms of economic impact.” RICHMOND, BC, June 21, 2017 /CNW/ – Today, the Musqueam Indian Band (Musqueam) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) the Musqueam Indian Band – YVR Airport Sustainability – Friendship Agreement, a 30-year agreement based on friendship and respect to achieve a sustainable and mutually beneficial future for our community.
